A typed note on back of the cartoon/sketch refers to a letter sent to Glasby and says:-

Wingate Vicarage,

Durham.

Dear Mr. Glasby,

Your letter of 19th July (year not given) has been forwarded to me, and I am taking the first opportunity to acknowledge it’s receipt.

Now that the window is in place I should like to tell you of the satisfaction it gives to the Committee, the Parishioners, and myself personally. We feel that we have been very fortunate in having entrusted the work to you. It is a Window when once seen, it is a pleasure to look at again and again. We are proud to have it in our Church. It is so different from, and superior to many of the conventional Stained Glass Windows which have been done as War Memorials.

Yours truly.

F. E. BOWMAN.

Regarding date of the work see the article:- Donald Green, Dennis Hadley and Joan Hadley, “The life and work of William Glasby (1863 – 1941)”, The Journal of Stained Glass, vol xxxii (2008), 91 – 106 which dates the Window 1923.
