I do not have a cartoon for the work.
The figures illustrated are Charity and Justice. In the tracery are figures of Purity and Praise, as well as two acts of mercy; leading the blind and visiting the prisoner.
Glasby worked for Powells and was also a painter for Wm Morris. Morris died prior to installation of the Lights, but the company continued under the directorship of John Henry Dearle who is thought to have designed the Lights. The Justice Light was the last to be installed and is recorded in the 1924 “Cotton” guide book.
Info also taken from an article by Donald Green, Dennis Hadley and Joan Hadley, “The life and work of William Glasby (1863 – 1941)”, The Journal of Stained Glass, vol xxxii (2008), 91 – 106.
