Back of the cartoon/sketch has Glasby’s Putney return address.
The cartoon/sketch has considerable differences with the actual window, but the basic design is typical of Glasby, who’s name is not on the window. In 1936 Glasby would be
73 years of age and perhaps still working.
The basic window differences from the cartoon/sketch are:-
The colour of the cross is green, symbolising a living cross, and the horizontal
member is much longer.
There are 13 angels and one at the side of Christ.
Background trees are different, St. Mary’s represents the cursed fig tree, a dead tree.
The arms of Jesus are more spread, ankles not crossed, and with crucifixion marks
showing.
Considerable difference in the tracery contents.
The window was dedicated on 10th October 1936.
